【A判定】大衆文学の成立――アメリカ文学を傍らに――
- 日本の現代文学は一九二〇年代前後、とりわけ関東大震災を契機に「第二の欧化の波」とロシア革命後のマルクス主義思想という二つの思想体系により大きく弾みをつけられたが、ともに流入してきた大量消費という、自由主義における記号に埋まっていったような感がある。そこで、日本より一足早くに生活の大衆化を果たしたアメリカの、その文学と社会との関係推移を日本の大衆文学の成立過程と同じ秤に乗せ、それぞれを異とする要素を見出そうと試みる。なお、アメリカ文学と日本の大衆文学を同等のモダニズム文学として取り扱うにあたり、着眼点が戦時下という時代背景に置かれることを先に述べておく。
