In this term’s lecture I learned new way of thinking from three people, they are Emerson, Thoreau and Whitman. Emerson was a philosopher, Thoreau a writer and Whitman a poet. I think they have same kind of idea but their way of expressing it was different. Then what is the same kind of idea? I think it is transcendentalism. First, Emerson expressed this idea through his lecture. Second, Thoreau moved Emerson’s idea into action. This summary of action is his work “Walden”. Third, Whitman expressed Emerson’s idea through his poem. In this paper I want to mention this stream of Transcendentalism.
Who is the richest business man in the world? Or who is the person that always in a ranking list of millionaires? I believe everybody can answer this question. Yes, it is “Bill Gates”. He was born 1955 in Seattle, and founded Microsoft in 1975. I can say he is reputable person. In this report, I give a definition of leaders from an example of Bill Gates.
First of all, Leaders do have clear vision, and can inform people on it. At any time they can present their company “should aim, should shape, and want to be”. Bill Gates had these visions clearly, so staffs followed him, when he started Microsoft.
“A PASSAGE TO INDIA” was written by English author E.M. FORSTER in 1924. It’s a story about the relationships between English people and Indian people at the Indian colonial period. I think the movie of “A PASSAGE TO INDIA” is highly suggestive as historical one, but it contains a strong prejudice view of English.
First, the movie describes little English forcible policies as a conqueror.
