Transition of Colour Reception ──John Keats’s The Eve of St.Agnes──
- I will discuss about the colour usage in John Keats’s The Eve of St. Agnes by using statistics, and analyzes the meanings and effects of the prominent colour terms, purple. Why colours and why John Keats? Colour studies have been developing throughout the ages. Although study of colour science might be a latest body of learning, there are some statements which tell us its consistency. Wildt mentioned that, Color as a subject has interested people at least as far back as the medieval period, through Elizabethan times, to the present. Throughout the centuries, the western world has sought to duplicate the colors reflected in its natural surroundings. Mixing pigments of various kinds, hues, and tones, painters have labored over creating particular visual effects.
