    Music therapy has been in the spot light for many years among doctors and they are now has been widely discussed in both the scientific community and the general media. Many media in Japan also document the effects of music, especially pieces composed by Mozart. Recently, Mozart’s music is said to have marvelous power and experts are researching on it. These studies were started by Dr. Alfred Tomatis, a French otolaryngologist. Originally, music is used for relaxation. The Mozart Effect is a term signifying the transformational powers of music in health, education, and well-being. What kinds of amazing effect do Mozart’s music have exactly?
    The first effect is the improvement of memory and intelligence. The original experiment was published in the journal Nature by scientists at the University of California in 1993. It reported that 36 college students showed an increase on spatial reasoning scores from subtests of the Stanford-Binet Scale of Intelligence after listening to a Mozart piano sonata compared to either the relaxation tape or silence.
