    Proposals in the State of Union, 2007
    The President Bush made a State of Union on the 23rd of January. I want to take a close look at two domestic points the President talked about which are, providing better education and reducing the use of oil as a whole nation.
    President Bush asked Congress to reauthorize "No Child Left Behind Act." This law was initially authorized in 2002, and the standard of education as a whole nation has risen. Children have been doing better in math and reading. Also, the gap between the minority students and other students has become smaller. This five-year term project is going to be finished this year unless Congress reauthorizes. It is necessary to reauthorize to make this law active.
    The newspaper article of USA Today of January 24th states that this project has been one of the successes of the Bush Administration. Democrats do not like to see Bush Administration to be successful, and they do not like the idea of the annual tests and punishments for failing schools. There are also some republicans who say that this law would allow the government to intervene in education too much. In my opinion, it is important to provide a better quality of education for children because it will affect children in better ways looking at the long term. Other than it can cause to cost more money, there is no reason to reject this project. I predict that Congress will reauthorize this project; if more funds are provided, this project will be better.
