The North and the South always had controversy after the Compromise of Missouri. However, they were functioning together as parts of the nation while they were separated steadily before 1860 based on their different characteristics. The regional separation was the very important matter because it would later result in the Civil War. Both regions had their advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, the Tariff of Abominations, the Second Great Awakening, and the Industrial Revolution were some of reasons which made separation between the North and the South.
The first reason for the South and the North divided was the Tariff of Abominations 1828. The price of northern goods had increased, that the northerners were supposed to suffer. However, the one who suffered more was the southerners discontented about the higher price of the manufactured goods from the North. This resulted in the decline in producing agricultural crops in the South.
