    資料紹介

Jean Baudrillard is a French theorist of the 20th century. He initially learned German language, but he also learned various fields of study. Since he studied various kinds of fields, it seems his ways of thinking are based on sociological, economic, and anthropological perspectives. His life has been devoted to teaching and researching as his bibliography shows; he began working in a French high school, and then he has worked in some different universities. Currently, he is a professor of culture and media criticism at the European Graduate School. He has published more than 30 books of his work to introduce his philosophy by present days.
Jean Baudrillard was born in the town of Reims, France in 1929. He lived through the time period when the whole world was in chaos and fought against one another. Obviously he has experienced the cruel World War II in his youth. The World War II is, I imagine, one of influential events in his life especially he experienced it when he was young. Even after the World War II, many conflicts from small to large took places all over the world. During his 30’s, wars broke out in Algeria and Vietnam, and he opposed to the intervention by France and the United States. It is possible to tell that he stressed on the self-determination by its ethnic group from his anthropological view.
