    資料紹介

In the First World War, there were many fronts. The Western Front was only a part of the war that caused problems. Each front had different geography and environment so there were many differences and similarities if we compared with the Western Front.
The Gallipoli was one of hard-fought battlefield in the First World War. The Gallipoli is located near Constantinople and most parts are surrounded by the sea. For this reason, battle in this front was mainly “amphibious attack”. It means they fought in both land and sea. Another difference between this front and the Western Front was the support of ANZAC (Australia and New Zealand). They supported Britain and French armies. There were many similarities as well. For example in this front, trench warfare was used and there was bombardment then finally, it became stalemate.
The Balkan Campaign, here again the stalemate developed like the Western Front but there were big differences in this front. In this front, many mixed forces fought with German. British French, Serb, Italian and Russian joined the war. One another difference was disease. Main hazard that troops faced was disease, such as Malaria and Dysentery because of horrible environment.
The Middle East, this front was mainly about the Britain’s oil supplies. One big different between other fronts was in this front, it didn’t became stalemate. Finally, British and Empire forces defeated Turks.
